Old Friends, New Friends...

and then there are blue friends...

do you ever wonder why we are drawn to the people we call our "friends?" and when those friends close to us seem to call upon us when they are feeling down, depressed and rightfully not themselves.

I received a phone call today from a very old friend. someone i've known since i was 8 years old. we used to swim together, back in the day. he's a great 'ole friend, goofy as hell but has a great heart. he's still someone who would drop everything and come rescue you if you were in trouble–regardless of whether you were here or in Timbuktu.

he's one of those people i would classify as a great friend. we've grown apart some since the good 'ole swimming days, but nonetheless, he's always been a great friend to me. he called. i answered. i'm proud to say that i helped him through a tough day. it's great to know even old friends...the kind that only call once in a great while...still rely on us "good 'ole friends."

it's great to be a good friend. and even better to be good to those friends who are truly great...
